DID YOU KNOW? You cannot
even bid on a project for a
residential property or child-
occupied facility built before
1978 unless you are a RRP
Certified Renovator.
Who needs to be Certified?
As of April 22, 2010 all contractors, firms and technicians
working in homes, schools, and child occupied facilities built
prior to 1978 must be trained, certified, and meet all Lead
Safe Work Practices requirements. This includes General
Contractors, Sub-Contractors, Rental Property Owners,
Managers, & Maintenance Workers performing common
practices including sanding, scraping, demolition and cutting
MUST be trained and certified.
How do I become a Certified Renovator?
Our eight hour Lead Certification class will teach you how to
comply with the RRP rule and the HUD Lead Safe Housing
Rule, how integrate safe and effective work practices into
your renovations and CERTIFY YOU IN ONE DAY. The Certified
Lead Renovator class is a training program meeting all State
of Washington and EPA requirements for contractors,
property owners, managers and maintenance personnel
who are involved in any activity that has the potential to
disturb lead based paint.
How do I stay compliant with my
Certification?
The Initial Lead Certification course is effective for a five year
period from the date that it is completed in class. You will
need to renew this certification prior to the expiration date
on your certificate by enrolling in a Refresher Lead
Certification course. This four hour refresher course can be
completed by attending another in-person class with hands-
on training for a recertification period of five years or online
without hand-on training for a recertification period of three
years.
Eight Hour Initial Course $225.00
The course tuition covers enrollment fee and all
materials for the class.
